PRESCIENT OCEANA CLIFTON CHALLENGE 2025

If you are racing The Ocean Clifton Challenge on Sunday 9th Feb 2025, please note:

🔹 Reg.: 7:45 – 8:45

🔹 Briefing : 8:30

🔹 Start: 9 am for everyone

🔹 Race numbers will be provided at reg

🔹 *NO PARKING* inside the club, you can drop your craft and park outside in the street or the nearby parking garage

🔹 Please place your craft left side of the slipway facing the sea. Keep the right side clear for ski boat launching.

🔹 *NB NB NB* – have a great paddle and a ton of fun.

The Atlantic seaboard is a great place to paddle, in the wind shadow of Table Mountain and Signal hill. This patch of ocean is full of life with resident Haveside dolphins, seals and even the bizarre looking sun fish. Whales are a regular visitor year round.

The race has 2 course options.

Long Course

This 16km route starts at Oceana and heads parallel with the coast to Clifton 4th beach, perhaps the most beautiful beach in SA and home to our co – organisers Clifton LSC. Paddlers will run onto the beach, around a flag and head back to Oceana via Fisherman’s Rock and Barkers Rock. The prevailing SW ground swell means there is always something to chase on the way home. Finish is back at Oceana.

Short Course

Traditionally this has been a 6km race from Oceana to 3 Anchor bay and back. The organising team is playing with other options to add more “spice” to the short course. The likely outcome will be a triangular multi lap course in Granger Bay similar to the very successful Seadog series in Fish Hoek. This makes for great racing and is brilliant for spectators to watch the action unfold.
